By JENNA FRYER (AP) INDIANAPOLIS — Jimmie Johnson grabbed an improbable third victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway when a speeding penalty to Juan Pablo Montoya blew Sunday’s race wide open. Montoya led 116 laps and had a 5-second lead when he headed to pit road for a routine stop with 35 laps remaining. NASCAR flagged him for speeding on his way in, and the penalty knocked him out of contention. “I swear on my children and my wife that I was not speeding!” he shouted over his radio …

You can bet your ass if it was a JR, a Gordon, Johnson, Martin…ANY “fan favorite”, NASCAR would have turned the other cheek on that .1 over! JPM had a 5 sec lead/20 car length, he didnt benefit from that what so ever. Bad call!

  • boxer919 says:

Yes! It’s back to the Brickyard 400!! Not this allstate crap.

Thank You NASCAR!! Now put the Southern 500 back to Labor Day where it belongs!

Not that anyone called it the “Allstate 400″ anyway.

a Montoya le robaron el triunfo. El corrio muy bien y el equipo le respondio, NASCAR le tiro la carrera

just accept that Johnson won. Yes, Montoya had the fastest car and Nascar made a bad call on him, but its over with and in the past, and Johnson emerged as the victor. dont say he didnt deserve it and Nascar wanted someone like him to win. he still works hard to do the best he can. GO #48!!!!

also, starting in 2010, its not going to be Lowe’s Motor Speedway, they’re reverting back to Charlotte Motor Speedway

  • HBKshowstopper635 says:

juan, im sorry but rules are rules no matter how strict they are

  • RedWings4Stanley says:

    hey u like nascar too?

  • metroid567 says:

lol speed limit is 60 montoya 60.11

  • finlandia420 says:

Exactly. The NASCAR/WWF comparison continues. How odd that it’s the only major racing series with such “conspiracy” theories going strong.

  • finlandia420 says:

Truth. Go back a bit. Check out fan reaction when JPM joined up, or when Toyota entered the series. The majority of fans were throwing around all kinds of racist crap. And NASCAR bows to it’s big money sponsors, and their fans.

  • finlandia420 says:

What I find funny is NASCAR PREACHES safety. Yet the cars don’t have pitlane limiters like all other racing series on the planet. Just another way they can shift shit the way they want. And odd how no one has access to pitlane timing.

  • bro5b says:

JPM was playing to close to the 60mph limit he burned himself

  • IowaStorm says:

Jaun got scammed due to the popularity contest of Nascar it’s obvouse. do we pick the guy no one knew or the 3 time champ…? hm…

  • boxer919 says:

    I know! I saw that. Awesome stuff…..

  • boxer919 says:

Or which sponsor gives NASCAR the biggest pat on the back…..Lowes, the American home improvement mania, or some dumb ass french version of Walmart? Bring back the old days! I’m tired of this!

    RIP NASCAR

    1948-2003

    lol exactly what i did

  • taranchula97 says:

I felt terrible for poor Montoya. This really shows how strict NASCAR’s rules are.

  • dangeranger100 says:

you shouldn’t feel sorry for him. it’s his fault he fucked up and it’s his fault nobody elses. he knows the fuckin rules and he fucked up. he ain’t just got them lights he can look at the tach and the rpms. simple as that he’s got more than one way to know how fast he should be going. he fucked up he knows it and nobody should feel sorry for him.

  • taranchula97 says:

You’re right. I’m just saying it’s disappointing how a mistake can happen at such a high point in the race.

  • dangeranger100 says:

yea happened to earnhard during damn near every daytona 500. but montoya just needs to let it go or get the fuck out of nascar and go back to colombia. simple as that. he ain’t that good yet the media makes him out to be more than he is. i’ll take stewart over montoya now that i think about it. i’m just sick of hearing about montoya. he don’t even belong in nascar.

  • valo22 says:

He’s going a really good driver, I think he has a chance at winning this year.
