Imagine that you’re driving on a long deserted length of road late at night with no one around.

Then suddenly, you begin to see that there’s a small flame burning by the side of your truck.

Perhaps something back there over heated or there was a fire hazard or you’ve just run into plain bad luck, no matter what, NOW, you’ve got to take action to stop it from making your life a danger.

You’ve got to take action immediately.

What do you do?

If you had taken the proper course to prepare yourself this would be an easy thing to answer.

You would know exactly what to do in all circumstances.

You would know the 3 different types of fires there are and how to accurately, effectively and speedily deal with each fire type.

You would know also know how to use a fire extinguisher in the right way.

While most people think that they should point at the fire and just try to spray at it you would know exactly what to do BESIDES pointing at the fire. In fact there’s one missing piece apart from pointing and squeezing the trigger, and it could save your life.

You’ll need to know what that one thing is because its crucial to figure out the right technique.

Here’s the super-tip bound to help you put out fires quickly.

P.A.S.S. … That’s it. P.A.S.S. will help you extinguish fires faster than pointing and spraying.

Pull out the safety pin.

This is the most simple step in the entire P.A.S.S. system.

Occassionally, the pin is broken, it comes out before it should. If you don’t get this inspected, it could be a violation of safety laws but this depends on the site you are in.

Point the fire extinguisher.

Point the tip of the fire extinguisher’s nozzle directly at the fire.

The handle should then be squeezed firmly.

As it reads, squeeze the trigger, do it firmly and consistently.

Next is the step that many miss out on. SWEEP.

In a sweeping motion, cover the entire area of the fire. Make sure the white cloud touches every inch of the burnt perimeter.

This is to ensure that the fire does not get re-ignited.

The last point is what many people miss out on, and missing this is no laughing matter, it could get you seriously injured. And to train your body its best if you go for a proper course on dealing with more situations and scenarios.

If you are thinking about cleaning your car, you will need to get a few items together before you begin so that your effort is not interrupted by a deficiency of something crucial. In this piece, we will presume that you are going to wash or detail the inside and the outside of your car but not the engine.

Clean Rags: you should never through rags away if you own a house or a car. They are extremely practical for numerous cleaning jobs and you cannot have too many of them. If a shirt becomes damaged, wash it then cut it up for dusters. In essence, rags are used for cleaning and drying inside and out.

Brushes: you will require several kinds of brushes: hard ones, soft ones biggish ones and small ones. You will require a hard brush for the tyres and the rugs and a softer brush for the upholstery.. A small hard brush will brush under the seats; a small soft brush will get into the glove compartment and a large soft brush will wash the exterior paintwork.

Spray Bottle: you will need a number of of these for applying washing fluids locally. One full of window cleaner, one for upholstery, one for leather, one for plastic – it depends what fabrics you have in your car.

Wash Mitten: as an alternative to a big soft brush you might want to use a big padded mitten to wash the outside paintwork. Both are as good as each other, it simply depends on personal preference.

Buckets: you will need at least two buckets of water at a time for cleaning the exterior paintwork of the car. Use warm water for cleaning and cold water for rinsing the suds off.

Vacuum Cleaner: a vacuum cleaner nozzle on a long hose is ideal for sucking up the mud and dirt that you have brushed free inside the car. It also stops it blowing around and sticking on the wet exterior afterward.

Hose: a hose pipe like a backyard hose is good enough for washing the outside of a car, the wheel arches and underneath. If you want to use a power washer make sure that it is not capable of taking the paint off. Bear in mind that sign-written paintwork is not as permanent as the cars coachwork which was baked on.

Buffer: if you want to save time or if you are merely work-shy., use an orbital buffer or polisher instead of a rag to polish your coachwork. If you use a buffer make certain that the pad is thick enough not to permit the disc to mark your paintwork.

Having all the items that you need readily to hand will make cleaning your car a cinch, so do not forget that apart from all these things you will require the cleaners and polishes to actually do the job as well. Why not placed your car cleaning kit in a box in order to store it all together for the next time you would like to wash your car?

Couriers jobs or driving jobs as they are sometimes known are a great way to start your own business. Being a courier requires you to deliver packages and parcels usually for a courier company. This type of business has lower start up costs and overheads compared to some business and as you will be working on a freelance basis you can organise your work around your family and lifestyle.

Ok well how do I get started your probably thinking? The first thing you need to do is build a business plan. This needs to include what type of courier driver do you want to be ie do you want specialist driving jobs or would you rather deliver a wide range of goods. Next you need to do your homework on the following; competition for work available, costs involved in running this type of business, break even point and of course profit margins.

The major purchase you will need to make is a van. Your van is going to be your most expensive and most important purchase – you cannot be a reliable and profitable courier without a reliable van. Most new van drivers are not in a position to be able to afford to buy a brand new van and will have to find other ways of financing the purchase. Bank loans or hire purchase agreements are the usual way of financing. Always, always bear in mind that your brand new van is going to depreciate in value and this must be written into costings that you will have to recover.

Do you buy a new or second hand van? Well that depends on the finance available to you and how much you can realistically afford (this is why a business plan is so important). You must leave the family car running cost mindset behind. Running a courier business will mean a high annual mileage rate which in turn means more wear and tear. You will have to replace parts and have services more regularly than you would on your family vehicle. So the benefits of buying a new van are it should be covered by a warranty which should keep these expenses down during the first 12 months. Used vans can be purchased from van dealers who will offer warranties. You really do need to do your homework and shop around.

Insurance for anyone who uses their vehicle for work and not just going to and from your place of work is higher. As with the purchase of your van you need to really have a good look at all your options. Because this is your “bread and butter” reading the small print is absolutely essential. Imagine if you have borrowed money to buy your van and you are unable to drive it because of an accident etc and you cannot get a replacement. Your loan will still need paying.

Right we have gone through some of the basics – there are many more factors that you need to take into account before launching your new business. Do your homework and write your business plan. If it is not going to be profitable don’t do it. There is no point being a busy fool! Take your time to get the best deals available and don’t sign anything until you have read all the small print.
