The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power takes place at Cholmondeley Castle, a historic estate in Cheshire, which since Norman times has been home to the Cholmondeley family.
This annual festival, which began in 2007, celebrates the great and good of the machines from air, land and sea.
This year’s event takes place over the 17th & 18th July and central to the events is the 3 mile circuit situated in the park grounds, where more than 150 vehicles compete in a variety of events, much to the delight of spectators. There are viewing areas on both sides, and spectators will see both high performance and rare cars throughout the two days.
Other attractions at the pageant will be a selection of inshore power boats on display, Rib rides and Jet Ski demonstration pieces from the world champions.
If you prefer your high performance vehicles in the air rather than land, or sea, then you’ll be pleased to know that over 140 helicopters will by flying into the estate from a mixture of corporate and private owners. As well as being able to view these, there will also be death defying displays such as , wink walkers, Spitfire flying, military displays and an immaculate Mustang from Hangar 11.
There will also be various stands for your perusal, offering both goods to buy, and friendly advice, and the little ones are looked after too, which special children’s activities including JCB dragsters, go karting and a mini grand prix.
You’ll be sure to work up a thirst with all that excitement and the festival features an onsite pub, a cocktail and wine bar, a Veuve Clicquot sponsored champagne bar and a tea room- the classic British staple! If you’re a little peckish, there is a full menu on offer in the Paegant Pub, and many of the stall holders will be supplying local produce, including cheeses, oils, pasties and ice-cream. All in all, the Pageant of Power is a varied day or weekend out, with an emphasis on excitement and fun.
