Join us at UltimateRC.com A look at the Electrix RC or ECX Circuit stadium truck, its construction, and its performance.
For more information or to buy a Circuit Stadium Truck please visit the following link: search.horizonhobby.com It’s not often when you see a new brand jump into the world of RC but ElectrixRC is doing just that. They have taken the approach to design all-new vehicles from the ground up to be fun, durable and affordable electric-powered cars and trucks for people to take their first steps in RC. The first entry from ElectrixRC, the Circuit Stadium Truck, dives head-first into one of the most popular classes for beginners—the stadium truck class. Known for their good handling traits, ability to drive in a variety of areas, increased ride height and more, stadium trucks have quite a following and were a logical way to get started. We had a chance to get some early running with the Circuit Stadium Truck recently to see what 120-bucks got you anyways. Looking at the truck it looks like you actually get quite a bit as the truck features oil-filled shocks, an electronic speed controller, two sets of transmitter and receiver crystals, 20-turn motor and full ball bearings! That’s right, every rotating part of the drivetrain and all four wheels are supported by ball bearings. We loaded up the camera gear, charged up the battery, applied the decals and got ready to hit the dirt running.Questions? Comments? In the six years since the original Mini-T was released it has remained a force in RC. Losi has decided to shake things up a bit with its newest truck based on the Mini-T platform, the Mini-Desert Truck. Borrowing design queues from its larger 1/10-scale cousin the Mini-Desert Truck looks…
We knew that the 1/10–scale Desert Truck from Losi was going to be a lot of fun when we first caught wind of it. Upon further inspection we were impressed with the list of features that have been designed into this truck. We had an opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the Desert Truck over the course of several afternoons to see how neat this truck truly is. Check out the video below for our comprehensive performance review. For more technical information, you can check out our preview of the Losi Desert Truck on HorizonHobby.com, search Article 1786
The Losi Micro-Desert Truck packs a lot of fun into it’s 1/36-scale package. Get a unique inside view of this terrific little truck.
Perhaps the hottest segment of RC right now is the Short Course Truck (SCT) Spec class. There are many good reasons for this as the trucks that go head-to-head look great, handle realistically and allow just about anyone to get involved in RC racing on a level playing field at a relatively low price. The latest entry to this class is the new 1/10-scale Losi Strike and it brings a few different things to the party. The Strike features a “backwards” mounted transmission, forward motor location, aluminum threaded body shocks, brushless-ready transmission, LiPo friendly ESC and a 2.4GHz radio system to provide perhaps the most complete RTR in the SCT class to date. I had a chance to get my hands on a pre-production Strike recently and truly got up-close and personal with it. From checking out all the chassis details, diving inside the transmission, inspecting the suspension and more, this was a rare opportunity that I planned on taking full advantage of. With a number of charged Losi LiPo batteries in my pit box and the video camera in the back of my truck I headed out for an early test session at RJD Hobbies and Raceway in Lincoln, IL. The outdoor track at RJD has always been a struggle for me to get my arms around. From its challenging layout and surface I’ve done ok here but I wouldn’t say this was one of my better tracks. When I arrived in the morning the track crew was preparing to ready the track for a warm-up race before the 2009 ROAR 1/8-scale Nationals the following …
I know what you’re thinking—HPI Racing isn’t an off-road company. Sure, they make some pretty killer electric and nitro monster trucks. Granted their sister company, Hot Bodies, is the current IFMAR 1/8-scale off-road champion. But what do they know about producing a 1/10-scale electric truck? Oh, and not just any stadium truck, we’re talking about a Short Course truck. Well, set your doubts aside, open your mind and take a gander at our latest test sled, the HPI Racing Blitz. While it borrows a few elements from its cousin, the e-Firestorm, this is a totally new truck that has been built from the ground up to be the fastest, easiest-to-drive, most user-friendly and best-looking Short Course Truck to date. I had the opportunity to see the debut of this truck at the end of July when I attended the Short Course Nationals, held at RC Madness in Enfield, Connecticut. I was amazed how quickly the HPI team of Jesse Robbers, Erik Shauver (lead designer of the Blitz), John Schultz and weekend hired gun Tony Phalen were able to wrench on the truck, make changes, then see an immediate impact on track. Erik and John both ran the Open and Spec classes meaning they were frequently swapping out gear diffs for ball diffs. I’m here to tell you they had it down to a 5-minute effort! Other changes such as roll centers, shock positions, toe-in and others were made in no-time flat. I was very impressed by the tuneability of the Blitz. Ok, so the truck looked easy to work on by the folks who …
When it comes to Nitro Monster trucks Losi has always moved to the beat of a different drummer. When other monsters were using multiple small diameter shocks on each wheel, the original LST defied conventional wisdom by using one massive shock per wheel. When other monster trucks were using a single steering servo, Losi raised the stakes again by utilizing dual-metal geared servos. When others were relying on small block engines, Losi yet again broke the mold by going with a big block. Needless to say the previous Losi monsters’ success speaks for itself. The latest generation of Losi monster is here in the Losi LST XXL. It gains its XXL moniker by being the largest LST to date, but there’s more under the body than just a stretched chassis. Featuring refined molded components that are based off the 8IGHT 2.0 Race Roller, a bigger 454-sized engine, optimized transmission and more, the LST XXL is one big and bad truck. Add in Spektrum’s telemetry-equipped DX3S transmitter into the mix and you have what is sure to be a winner. It’s time to roost the competition and we invite you to come along to see exactly what Losi’s latest LST brings to the party. I took out with the LST XXL. I thought it might sound better without it. Speed Specs LST XXL Manufacturer – Losi Part Number – LOSB0016 Vehicle Type/Class – Big-Block Nitro Monster Truck Target Audience – Entry-Level to Advanced Nitro Monster Truck Enthusiast Kit/RTR/Race Roller – RTR Test Items Used: Losi 30% Nitrotane …
