This is my review of my Losi Aftershock LE. This is my first nitro vehicle and don’t know that I can go back to electric. Just sharing what I’ve learned over the past few months that I’ve had the monster truck.

For more information on the Losi Micro Rally Car or Short Course Truck or to purchase one please visit: search.horizonhobby.com Losi has a history of making some very fun and performance-packed micro vehicles in recent years. From the original Micro-T, Micro-Desert Truck and more they’ve established themselves as the kings of the sub-1/18 scale. They’re back again, this time with a slightly larger platform in two different flavors in the 1/24-scale Micro Short Course Truck and Micro Rally Car. Sharing most major components between both platforms these are two vehicles that can truly bridge the gap between the mini and micro worlds. Designed from the ground-up with a full-time 4WD drive system featuring full ball bearings and an intigrated slipper clutch, coil-over oil-filled shocks, powerful micro motor and more these are two spectacular vehicles. We had an opportunity to go doorhandle-to-doorhandle with Losi’s Andy Ziegler on one of the prototype tracks that was setup in an office. Yes, it was a closed-door meeting where my beating Andy and putting these cars through their paces was high on the agenda.Questions? Comments? In the six years since the original Mini-T was released it has remained a force in RC. Losi has decided to shake things up a bit with its newest truck based on the Mini-T platform, the Mini-Desert Truck. Borrowing design queues from its larger 1/10-scale cousin the Mini-Desert Truck looks…

We knew that the 1/10–scale Desert Truck from Losi was going to be a lot of fun when we first caught wind of it. The Losi Micro-Desert Truck packs a lot of fun into it’s 1/36-scale package. Get a unique inside view of this terrific little truck.

Perhaps the hottest segment of RC right now is the Short Course Truck (SCT) Spec class. There are many good reasons for this as the trucks that go head-to-head look great, handle realistically and allow just about anyone to get involved in RC racing on a level playing field at a relatively low price. The latest entry to this class is the new 1/10-scale Losi Strike and it brings a few different things to the party. The Strike features a “backwards” mounted transmission, forward motor location, aluminum threaded body shocks, brushless-ready transmission, LiPo friendly ESC and a 2.4GHz radio system to provide perhaps the most complete RTR in the SCT class to date. I had a chance to get my hands on a pre-production Strike recently and truly got up-close and personal with it. From checking out all the chassis details, diving inside the transmission, inspecting the suspension and more, this was a rare opportunity that I planned on taking full advantage of. With a number of charged Losi LiPo batteries in my pit box and the video camera in the back of my truck I headed out for an early test session at RJD Hobbies and Raceway in Lincoln, IL. The outdoor track at RJD has always been a struggle for me to get my arms around. From its challenging layout and surface I’ve done ok here but I wouldn’t say this was one of my better tracks. When I arrived in the morning the track crew was preparing to ready the track for a warm-up race before the 2009 ROAR 1/8-scale Nationals the following

When it comes to Nitro Monster trucks Losi has always moved to the beat of a different drummer. When other monsters were using multiple small diameter shocks on each wheel, the original LST defied conventional wisdom by using one massive shock per wheel. When other monster trucks were using a single steering servo, Losi raised the stakes again by utilizing dual-metal geared servos. When others were relying on small block engines, Losi yet again broke the mold by going with a big block. Needless to say the previous Losi monsters’ success speaks for itself. The latest generation of Losi monster is here in the Losi LST XXL. It gains its XXL moniker by being the largest LST to date, but there’s more under the body than just a stretched chassis. Featuring refined molded components that are based off the 8IGHT 2.0 Race Roller, a bigger 454-sized engine, optimized transmission and more, the LST XXL is one big and bad truck. Add in Spektrum’s telemetry-equipped DX3S transmitter into the mix and you have what is sure to be a winner. It’s time to roost the competition and we invite you to come along to see exactly what Losi’s latest LST brings to the party. I took out with the LST XXL. I thought it might sound better without it.
