The Mazda RX-7 was a sports car that Mazda produced between the years of’78 and 2002. One unique feature of this particular car is that it featured the Wankel engine. The RX-7 replaced the RX-3 and eventually replaced all of Mazda’s rotary engine vehicles except the Cosmo.

The first RX-7 only had a 1150 cc engine. The rotary engine featured twin rotors and the vehicle was a rear wheel drive car. The rotary engine had been developed in Germany many years earlier, but Mazda is one of the few auto manufacturers to successfully use the technology in a widely produced vehicle. One drawback of the engine is that it uses more fuel than the piston engine. This cause several problems for Mazda in the 70s oil crisis.

Rotary engines are light weight in their construction. This gave the RX-7 a feeling of more power with a smaller engine. The engines also run smoother that a comparable piston engine.

The rotary engines were found to be easily modified to meet air emission standards without catalytic converters. However, this conversion caused them to use even more fuel. By’84, Mazda offered a fuel economy of 29 highway and’ city. In the RX-8 replacement for the RX-7 the fuel economy is comparable to other vehicles of the same size and weight class.

Mazda sold the RX-7 as a sports coupe. The RX-7 had a mid mounted engine and offered great stability. In America for a while there was an option of dealer installed rear seats, however in Japan there was the option of purchasing the vehicle with rear seats already installed.

In the later part of the 80′s Mazda redesigned the RX-7 and styled it to look like the popular Porsche. In’88, they introduced the RX-7 convertible who’s production continued until’92. While it was being produced, the convertible was rated as the best convertible that had ever been produced.

In’92 the third generation RX-7 was introduced and the sales of the RX-7 stopped during’95 when only a limited number of the Mazda RX-7s were shipped to the United States dealers for sale. Sales of the vehicle continued in other parts of the world until 2002.

The Mazda RX-8 eventually replaced the RX-7 world wide. It was first introduced into the United States in 2001 at an auto show, but sales did not begin until 2004. The RX-8 continues Mazda’s tradition of the rotary engine, however it offers seating in the vehicle for four as standard.

The production of the Mazda Millenia started during the year’93, with this car being the successor of the Mazda 929 that was going out of production in the same year. The company decided to launch three luxury sedans under the premium brand Amati, but ran out of funds. Are you interested in hearing more facts about the Mazda Millenia? If so, then you have come to the right place as we are going to tell you some interesting details about this ever so popular car.

When the company was stopping production of the 929, the plans they had was to release a set of luxury sedan cars under a separate luxury-class brand named Amati. Mazda’s intention was not realized due to monetary issues, but the company still went ahead to release a worthy successor to the 929, the Mazda Millenia, in’93.

Nevertheless, two of the proposed models, The Xedos 9 was launched in Europe, and the Eunos 800 in Japan. The first line of cars were front wheel drives, as opposed to the design of the rear wheel powered 929. The Japanese models though were 4-wheel drives and the handling and performance were comparable to the BMW 850i and the Nissan ZX.

These 4 door, 5 passenger luxury sedans had the trendy design exteriors, complete with thicker paint finishes, and the Miller Cycle engine. The 2. 3L engine, coupled with a horsepower of 210hp and a torque to match, made driving an extremely enjoyable experience, especially in the Japanese 4-wheel drive models.

The European line was released as a front wheel drive even though the 929 was a rear wheel powered car. The car could reach fast speeds of 60 miles per hour in less than 8 seconds and attained top speeds of up to–0 mph without much difficulty. Now, that’s a fast car…

As the car was considered a class apart, the exterior coat finish was done to perfection with thicker paint and eye-catching color, although in the earlier models, plastic interiors gave the insides a rather shabby feel. Later models that were released post’98, had leather seats and wood chrome appointments.

2001 and 2002 saw the models with augmented body structures, and features added for better control and handling. Be warned though, spare parts for this model are on the expensive side.
